For Students and Faculty for a Research Project
The Ureka Global Innovation Hub (UGIH) proposes a unique collaboration with universities by which their students and faculty can benefit from international experience and exposure.
Concept:
Universities will be able to nominate a fixed number of their students and faculty every year to travel to one of the UGIH locations in the world to undertake an international internship for students or a research project for faculty.
In return, the university has to commit to a reciprocal arrangement with UGIH to host students or faculty from other countries on their campus.
Thus, UGIH aims to create a win-win proposition where everyone benefits from the global network and exchange of people and ideas.
In addition to this, there are other benefits that an institution can avail through this association. Please see annexure B for the benefits.
How can a University / Institution join this initiative:
Any accredited university or institution can join this initiative, the requirements are as follows:
In which countries are internships available
Internships under this initiative are available in Dubai immediately. The cities where internships will be available by Q1 2024 are New York, Los Angeles, Sau Paulo, London, Paris, Rome, Berlin, Johannesburg, Shanghai, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Melbourne.
Does the host university have to bear any costs or expenses:
No, the host institution receiving the incoming students or faculty does not have to bear any costs or expenses. They only need to provide a decent work space and related facilities for the international participant.
How many students / faculty can a university send abroad under this initiative:
The university can send the same number of students and faculty that it is willing to host on its campus. Initially, a university can send 1 student and 1 faculty, this will increase from Q3 2024 onwards.
What is the duration of the internship abroad:
As of now, the duration offered is 4 weeks. This can be increased in coming times.
What will the students / faculty get from this internship
Who will run the internship, does the host university need to dedicate any resources:
The internship will be run by the central secretariat of UGIH, who will be responsible for day-to-day reporting and tasks. No, the host university is not required to dedicate any resource, they only provide a point of contact for any administrative support that may be required by the participants.
Does the host institution gets paid for hosting participants
No, this is reciprocal exchange of students and faculty, thus, the host university neither pays or receives anything for this initiative.
There may be other revenue opportunities under the UGIH umbrella but not through this particular initiative.
